Thursday morning forecast

Santa Barbara, Calif. - The marine layer has returned to the California Central Coast and South Coast on this Thursday, and it will take much of the morning before the clouds and fog retreat back over the ocean. We can expect a partly cloudy and mild afternoon after our cloudy and mild morning, and highs will be fairly seasonable from the coastal lower 60s to the lower 70s in the valleys.

A trough of low pressure is approaching California, and it will bring several chances for rain over the next week to 10 days. We can expect increasing clouds on Friday, and a chance for some light rain and gusty wind on Saturday. After a brief break Sunday, another area of low pressure will bring better chances for more light to moderate rain next Monday through Wednesday.

Daytime highs will be much more seasonable through next week and below-average at times due to the incoming storms. Most highs will be in the 60s, with a few upper 50s and lower 70s possible. Overnight lows will be milder than average most of the next week due to all the clouds, breezes and rain. Valley lows: upper 30s to mid 40s. Coastal lows: lower 40s to lower 50s.
