Thursday evening forecast

Santa Barbara, Calif. - Clouds streamed over the California Central Coast and South Coast on Thursday, but despite those clouds, high temperatures were once again well above average for late February. The blanket of high clouds will remain in place tonight, and lows will be warmer. Overnight lows will range from the lower 40s to the lower 50s on Friday morning.

The ridge of high pressure which brought so much sunshine and warmth is being pushed aside by a trough from the Pacific, and changes are coming. We'll have more clouds Friday and this weekend, there is a slight chance for light rain showers Sunday, and the wind will blow from Saturday through Monday. Next Tuesday through Thursday will be brighter and warmer.

Overnight lows will rise initially, and then will fall once we lose the clouds and wind. Valleys: lower 40s will fall into the 30s next week. Coasts: lower 50s will fall into the 40s next week. Daytime highs will fall Friday through Sunday before rising through late next week. Highs will fall from the 70s to the upper 50s by Sunday before rising back to the 60s and lower 70s.
