Monday evening forecast

Santa Barbara, Calif. - After some light to moderate rain to begin the final Monday morning of 2019, we had a breezy mix of sunshine and high clouds in the afternoon. The storm which brought the rain is on its way out, and we can expect weaker wind and fewer clouds late tonight through early New Year's Eve. Lows will range from the mid 30s to the mid 40s.

The last day of 2019 and the first week of 2020 appear much drier than the last few weeks have been. A ridge of high pressure will build over the West Coast much of this week, and we can expect a mild mix of sun and clouds. A fast-moving trough of low pressure will bring more wind late in the weekend, but the weather will stay dry through at least next Monday.

Overnight lows will be seasonably chilly to cool for late December and early January. Valleys: 30s and lower 40s Coasts: mainly 40s with lower 50s possible. Daytime highs will be slightly warmer than average for the first week of January. Valleys: upper 50s and lower to mid 60s. Coasts: mainly mid to upper 60s, cooling to the lower 60s by next Monday.
