Clemence will not transfer to UCSB after all and will stay at Kansas
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Zach Clemence will not be joining the Gauchos despite entering the transfer portal and committing to UCSB in early May.
Instead the 6'10 forward will remain at Kansas and likely redshirt with the Jayhawks according to head coach Bill Self.
Clemence reportedly signed with UCSB but unlike high school National Letters of Intent, the paperwork is not binding until school starts and the transfer begins classes.
Despite Clemence not coming to UCSB the Gauchos have still had a great offseason that includes transfers Yohan Traore from Auburn and combo-guard Ben Shtolzberg from Creighton.
The Gauchos are also getting 7-foot Mezziah Oakman from City College of San Francisco and freshman guard Jason Fontenet.
The biggest move for UCSB was retaining Big West Player of the Year Ajay Mitchell who could have easily transferred to a Power-5 school.
UCSB is reportedly looking overseas at some recruits to fill the spot of Clemence.
