Why are you running for office? | Three generations of my family live in District 2, and I care deeply about this special place. I want to protect it for future generations. |
What makes you qualified for the job? | Serving more than 3 years on the Templeton Area Advisory Group, two years as the TAAG Chair, has given me many opportunities to talk to farmers, ranchers, home owners, business owners about their concerns. I do understand North SLO County citizens' concerns. TAAG has also given me experience dealing with county ordinances and procedures. As a member of the Board of a non-profit hospital that served a population larger than the population of SLO County, I evaluated solutions for medical care of that community and made difficult budget decisions for an organization with ore employees and a larger budget than our county government. These experiences together have prepared me to be an effective Supervisor from Day 1. |
What are your two main priorities if you win? | 1. Fully funding law enforcement and fire protection services. 2. Re-evaluate county services handling mental health, drug and alcohol addictions and our homeless population. |
How will you collaborate with other governments? | In order to get things done in District 2, it is important to work closely with the single incorporated city in that district, Atascadero. For an example, Atascadero Police Department needs back-up from the Sheriff's Department, and Atascadero Fire Department needs back-up from Cal Fire. Dealing with Homelessness in our county requires close cooperation between the county government and the seven city governments. |
What are the next two issues that are most important to you? | 3. Helping small business, tourism and agriculture thrive creating economic growth. 4. Streamline and clean up the Planning Department permitting process. |
