Watch: Donald Trump’s Inauguration as 47th U.S. President

WASHINGTON D.C. - Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th U.S. president for his second nonconsecutive term on Jan. 20 in front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Inauguration Day is a momentous occasion, filled with tradition as one president leaves the White House and another takes office.
A central part of the ceremony was when Trump took the oath of office, saying: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Outgoing President Joe Biden attended the ceremony to witness the peaceful transfer of power, a courtesy that Trump did not extend to him four years earlier. Following the ceremony, NBC reports that Biden will visit the Santa Ynez Valley.
According to local and federal officials, around 200,000 attended the event in Washington, D.C. U.S. Senators, House members, and guests of the incoming administration were present, including prominent tech leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk.
Former presidents and first ladies were in attendance, but former First Lady Michelle Obama did skip this year’s inauguration, as confirmed by her office.
Country music star Carrie Underwood was scheduled to perform “America the Beautiful” during the swearing-in ceremony.
ABC News began coverage of the day at 5 a.m. PT, with the inauguration ceremony set to start at 9 a.m. PT. Local news will be affected on Inauguration Day due to the event.
