Body Recovered in Santa Paula Identified As Missing Ventura County Man David Carrillo

SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KEYT) – A body recovered from a river bottom south of Cornell Drive in Santa Paula has been identified as 43-year-old David Carrillo who was reported missing in April of this year.

On July 11, around 11:30 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Cornell Drive for a reported human body in the nearby river bottom stated the Santa Paula Police Department.

Arriving officers searched the area and eventually located the human remains "in advanced stages of decomposition" shared the local law enforcement agency.

The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office retrieved the body and conducted an autopsy on July 14 where they identified the deceased man as 43-year-old David Carrillo detailed the Santa Paula Police Department.

According to Santa Paula Police, Carrillo was reported missing in April of this year with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office and he was known to frequent the Santa Paula area.

On April 8, Carrillo's sister filed a missing person report with the local sheriff's office after Carrillo was not heard from after being released from the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on March 9 stated the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The exact cause of Carrillo's death had not been determined and detectives are turning to the public for help in their ongoing investigation noted the Santa Paula Police Department.
