Santa Paula Man Arrested After Attempting to Disarm Officer During Fight on Saticoy Street

SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 45-year-old Santa Paula man was arrested after trying to break into a home on Saticoy Street and fighting with two responding officers Tuesday.

On July 7, around 1:05 p.m., officers responded to a trespasser call in the 1000 block of Saticoy Street stated the Santa Paula Police Department.

Officers arrived to find an agitated man, later identified as a 45-year-old Santa Paula resident, attempting to enter a property where he did not live and did not have legal access to detailed the local police agency.

According to Santa Paula Police, officers tried to speak with the man and then attempted to stop him from entering the property when a physical altercation started.

During the scuffle, the man made several attempts to disarm one of the officers by removing his service weapon from its holster and all three men sustained minor injuries during the incident explained the Santa Paula Police Department.

The 45-year-old man and one of the officers received medical treatment at a local hospital before the Santa Paula man was booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of battery of a peace officer, resisting arrest, and attempting to disarm a peace officer of his firearm shared the local police agency.

The 45-year-old's bail has been set at $500,000 added the Santa Paula Police Department.
