Ojai Tennis Tournament Brings Elite Play and a Full-Circle Moment

OJAI, Calif. - A beloved Ventura County tradition is back, bringing top tennis talent and a hometown celebration to center court.

The 124th Ojai Tennis Tournament is underway this week, drawing players from across the country while honoring one of the region’s own former ATP star Sam Querrey.

Querrey, a Thousand Oaks native, is being recognized as this year’s “Tournament Honoree,” marking a full-circle moment at the same event where he once competed as a junior. Before launching a successful professional career, Querrey built his early reputation on these courts, making deep runs in both singles and doubles competitions.

Now retired, he returns not as a competitor, but as a celebrated figure in a tournament that helped shape his path in tennis.

Matches are being held at Libbey Park and other venues across Ventura County through April 26. Organizers say the event continues to be a cornerstone for the sport hosting everything from collegiate championships to junior competitions and open divisions.
