Oxnard man arrested in connection with shooting that claimed the life of a Camarillo man

CAMARILLO, Calif. (KEYT) – A 33-year-old Camarillo man has died and a 55-year-old Oxnard man has been arrested in connection with his death Wednesday.

The identities of both men are being withheld at this point in the investigation shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

On April 1, around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 2200 block of Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo stated a press release Thursday from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

Responding deputies found an adult man, later identified as a 33-year-old Camarillo resident, with gunshot wounds and he was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment detailed the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

Despite the life-saving attempts by first responders, the man later died from his injuries shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, investigators identified a 55-year-old Oxnard man as the suspect in the fatal shooting and he was later taken into custody without incident.

While the Ventura County Sheriffs Office noted that the incident currently appears to have been isolated, the investigation into the homicide is ongoing and anyone with more information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit at 805-654-9511.
