Ventura man arrested in connection with shooting investigation early Tuesday

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – On Tuesday, a 26-year-old Ventura man was arrested for resisting arrest after officers chased two people involved with gunfire in the area of Riverside Street and Simpson Street.

No injuries were reported following the incident noted the Ventura Police Department in a press release.

On March 31, around 5:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Riverside Street and Simpson Street after a report of multiple shots being fired in the area stated the Ventura Police Department.

Arriving officers heard additional gunfire coming from the nearby bike path and a patrol officer spotted two people fleeing the area shared the Ventura Police Department.

The officer started pursuing the fleeing suspects and one of them, later identified as a 26-year-old Ventura man, was taken into custody detailed the Ventura Police Department.

An AR15-style firearm was recovered from the area where the suspects had initially started to flee added the Ventura Police Department.

The 26-year-old was arrested and booked on a charge of violating California Penal Code 148-Resisting/Delaying/Obstructing a police officer.
