12 people displaced after fire breaks out in Ventura apartment complex
VENTURA, Calif. – A fire that ripped through an apartment complex early Saturday morning displaced 12 people.
It happened at an apartment complex on the 1300 block of Saratoga Avenue in Ventura.
Firefighters responded to the building around 1:50 a.m. after receiving reports of people trapped inside and screaming for help.
Fire crews found a second-story unit on the end of the apartment complex that was fully engulfed in flames. Police began evacuating adjacent apartments and firefighters made an aggressive attack to get the fire under control.
After about 16 minutes, the fire was under control and crews began to search the apartment. They found that every resident in the 16-unit apartment complex was able to get out safely.
Firefighters remained on scene to ensure the fire was completely out.
One person was injured in the fire. No firefighter injuries were reported.
12 people, including eight adults and four children, were displaced from the fire.
