VENTURA, Calif. - A young boy was injured in Ventura Saturday morning after he crashed into a moving vehicle while riding an electric scooter.

The Ventura Police Department said that the 12-year-old was not wearing a helmet while he rode his scooter down a hill just before 10:30 a.m. It appears that the boy lost control of the scooter and continued into moving traffic, crashing into the side of a car.

The car stayed on the scene while emergency personnel responded. No one in the car was injured.

The boy's injuries were initially determined to be serious, but are not described as non-life threatening. He was transported to the hospital for further treatment. We do not know his current condition.
