Woman killed in Thursday night crash in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. - A woman was killed and another was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in Oxnard Thursday night.

At around 9:45 p.m., Oxnard police and paramedics responded to the intersection of Gonzales Road and Victoria Avenue for a report of a crash involving two vehicles.

Police found a Dodge Durango and a Nissan Altima that collided in the intersection for reasons that are unclear.

The woman driving the Altima suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite "advanced medical treatment," she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Durango, identified as a 31-year-old Oxnard woman, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved, police said. Anyone with information about this crash is urged to contact Officer Paul Knapp by email or phone at 805-385-7750.
