Two hospitalized following rollover crash at Solomon Grade

Santa Barbara County Fire Department

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Two people were transported to the hospital on Sunday after a rollover crash on Highway 101 between Orcutt and Los Alamos.

The crash happened around 12:38 p.m. in the northbound lanes.

Santa Barbara County firefighters received reports of a camper van rollover near the summit of Solomon Grade, a short distance away from the fatal crash that occurred earlier on Sunday.

Upon arriving, firefighters said they found the camper van rolled over with two people trapped inside. After extensive extrication, both individuals were determined to have sustained moderate injuries and were transported to the hospital by AMR ambulance.

County firefighters stayed at the scene to help California Highway Patrol clean up the roadway and investigate the crash.

The CHP Traffic Incident Information Page reported that freeway traffic was stopped in both directions during the incident.

A dog was also reported in the roadway after the crash. The dog's current condition is unclear.
