One dead, two hospitalized after head-on collision in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - One person died Friday night after two vehicles crashed head-on in Ventura.

It happened around 10:13 p.m. City Police officers and City firefighters were dispatched to Harbor Boulevard at San Jon Road after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a crash.

Upon arriving, police found the driver of one vehicle had suffered major injuries. That person was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the second vehicle also suffered major injuries and a passenger in their car had minor injuries. Both individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are unclear.

The identities of everyone involved are currently being withheld pending family notifications.

The cause of crash is under investigation.

Harbor Blvd was closed in both directions west of San Jon Road for several hours that night.
