A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Goleta

GOLETA, Calif. - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Goleta near the Glen Annie Golf Club Friday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3:54 p.m. on Cathedral Oaks at King Daniel Lane.

Santa Barbara County Fire and AMR responded to the scene and found that a white Dodge truck had collided with a white Yamaha motorcycle. Sheriff's deputies said the crash caused the motorcycle to catch fire, spreading flames into a nearby tree. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Sadly, first responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead shortly after arriving on scene. The victim's identity has not yet been released while officials work to notify their next-of-kin.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash at Cathedral Oaks in Goleta

Cathedral Oaks Road was closed for several hours from Evergreen Drive to Placer Drive so that deputies could collect evidence and conduct the initial investigation. It was reopened just before 9 p.m.

After investigating, deputies determined that the motorcyclist had been traveling eastbound on Cathedral Oaks while the truck was traveling westbound. It appears that the pickup truck made a left turn from Cathedral Oaks toward King Daniel Lane in front of the motorcycle, ending in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office said the driver of the Dodge truck stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact Senior Deputy Jeff Farmer at (805) 961-7514 or by emailing jlf3077@sbsheriff.org
