Karisma Flores made 4 three-pointers in win

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) -

UCSB 58, Pepperdine 54: Freshman Karisma Flores scored a team-high 16 points and Washington-transfer Olivia Anderson made two late baskets as UCSB scored the road win.

Flores, a former Buena and Oak Park High School star, made 4 three-pointers including 3 in the first quarter as the Gauchos raced out to a 26-16 lead.

“I feel very happy right now. I got to play with all my teammates. They’re my favorite people right now. It feels good to get the win with them,” Flores said. “We’ve been working really hard, and I'm excited to see what we can do.”

But the offense dried up from there and UCSB had to grind out the win to improve to 2-0.

Olivia Anderson scored 13 points including her team's final 4 points in the last 3:17 of the game.

Maddie Naro tallied 6 points with 8 assists and Chauncey Anderson added 9 points.

UCSB hosts Seattle on Monday at 6 p.m.
