Injury-depleted Bishop Diego can’t soar with Lancaster Eagles

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - Bishop Diego had almost ten players not suited up due to injury and the Cardinals were certainly not dressed for success.

Aidan Howell and Terrance Harper carved up the injury-riddled Cardinals defense as Lancaster won 50-34.

Howell threw all four of his touchdown passes in the first half as the Eagles led 36-21 at the break.

After a scoreless third quarter Lancaster scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter as they totaled close to 500 yards of offense.

Harper ended up with seven catches for 164 yards and four touchdowns as Lancaster improved to 2-1.

After trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, Bishop Diego got their offense humming in the second quarter with three touchdowns.

Sophomore quarterback Kaleo Satele hooked up with senior Remi Boykin on a 37-yard score to trim the deficit to 14-7,

Following two more touchdowns by Lancaster that extended the lead to 28-7, the Cardinals got another big offensive play.

Senior Nate Hernandez carried the ball 44-yards untouched for a touchdown.

He also scored on a short touchdown run just before the half to pull the Cardinals within 15 points.

But the Cardinals would get no closer as they fall to 2-1 on the year.
