Colby Raha Brings High-Flying Motocross to Ventura’s Throw Down

Ventura Throw Down

VENTURA, Calif. — You came for cornhole. You might stay for the motorcycle flying through the air.

The Ventura Throw Down is bringing thousands of people together this weekend for a massive cornhole tournament — but the event has grown into much more than a backyard game.

Among the attractions is professional freestyle motocross rider Colby Raha, a 12-time X Games medalist and world-record holder, who will perform high-flying motorcycle stunts during the festival.

Raha is scheduled to perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 22, with another performance set for 2:45 p.m. Sunday.

The combination of cornhole and motocross may seem unexpected, but organizers have expanded the Throw Down into a larger festival featuring motocross, MMA, axe throwing, live music, trucks and motorcycles.

Organizers expect roughly 25,000 spectators throughout the weekend.

For Raha, the event offers a chance to bring freestyle motocross to an audience that may not typically attend a professional motorcycle competition.

His performances will put the focus on the ramps, the bikes and the crowd — as he launches his motorcycle into the air in a spectacle designed to complement the festival atmosphere.

The Throw Down continues through Sunday in Ventura.
