It's the 2nd straight year that UCSB has a pitcher taken in top 5 overall

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - UCSB right-handed pitcher Jackson Flora was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.

This past season the 6'5 junior Flora was 12-0 with a 1.06 earned run average. The 12 wins and his microscopic ERA both led the nation.

Flora features an electric 100-mph fastball and he set the Gauchos single-season strikeout record this season with 133.

He was a first team All-America selection in all six nationally recognized award organizations including D1 Baseball and Baseball America.

It's the second straight summer that UCSB has had the first pitcher taken in the Major League Baseball Draft as last year Tyler Bremner was selected #2 overall by the Los Angeles Angels.

The first four rounds of the MLB draft are on Saturday with rounds 5-20 taking place on Sunday.
