SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The Delta High School Robotics Team won eight straight matches at the Rebootics Spooktacular Vex VRC event at Bakerfield’s Centennial High School over the weekend.

The 12-person team known as the Delta Dragons finished third overall in the competition that featured 34 teams from the Central Coast and Central Valley.

Student Adan Roldan said, "I had never built a robot or been to a tournament, so when I got there and Mr. Cooper said take a look at the other robots, I realized that what my team and I had built was well designed, strong, and ready to take on the competition. That is why we went 8-1 today.”

Head Coach Jeff Cooper's team built three robots for the 2023/24 season, the Dragons dedicate time mostly after school building and programming the robots.

After the Delta Dragons impressive performance, Coach Cooper said, "This is our best start ever, the Delta team demonstrated engineering and mechanical skills at the highest level of the competition."
