BUELLTON, Calif.- In order to ensure everyone’s safety CHP Officers will be stepping up enforcement throughout the next several days.

As thousands are expected to hit the roads for the holidays this week, CHP Officers are asking drivers to slow down.

“Historically Christmas Eve a couple of days before Christmas, a couple of days after, and then also moving in to New Year's. People are going to holiday parties people are going to Christmas with friends or other holidays with friends. So just make sure that you're practicing safe driving principles that your car is in proper working order, your brakes are checked, your windshield wipers, headlights are all working, brake lights. Also that you're maintaining a safe distance between the vehicles around you. So you have some real reaction time in case anything happens," said Officer Michael Griffith, Buellton CHP.

Officers want to remind the public of the dangers of driving impaired and celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving under the influence.
