Outage affecting 911 calls in Santa Barbara County resolved

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – An outage that was keeping people in Santa Barbara County from connecting with emergency dispatchers by calling 911 was resolved Tuesday afternoon.

The outage was first reported around 2:30 p.m and was affecting cell phone users who were dialing 911 to get in contact with emergency dispatch.

The Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management said the issue had been identified and cellular carriers were working to get the issued corrected.

By 4:30 p.m., the outage was resolved, officials said.

Despite the issues receiving 911 calls, the emergency dispatch centers remained fully staffed and operating as normal.

Anyone experiencing an emergency may once again call 911 to get in contact with emergency dispatch.

For anyone needing to contact local agencies for other issues, you can call your local agency non-emergency line.
