California Mid-State Fair announces winners for 2021 Home Wine Competition

California Mid-State Fair

PASO ROBLES, Calif. -- California Mid-State Fair announced the winners of the 2021 Home Wine Competition on Tuesday morning.

This is the return of the competition since the cancellation of the Mid-State Fair back in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chief judge of the event said this year's competition gave some of the highest quality wines to date.

“Overall, the 2021 competition was a huge success. It’s clear the overarching goal that was put in place 10 years ago, which is to improve the home winemakers’ skills and capabilities to produce commercial quality wines, is being realized,” stated chief judge Mike Jones.

The winners are the following:

  • Best of Show and Best Red:
    • Anne Young from Arroyo Grande, Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Best of Dessert:
    • Cameron Tapp from San Luis Obispo, Viognier
  • Best of Rosé:
    • Brad Bunkelman from Santa Maria, Malbec Rosé
  • Best of White:
