Car Crashes Into Toy Store on Coast Village Road Monday; No Major Injuries At the Scene
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – A vehicle crashed into a toy store in the 1000 block of Coast Village Road Monday.
According to Santa Barbara Police, officers were sent to the Montecito Country Mart on Coast Village Road around 11:57 a.m. Monday for a vehicle into a commercial building.
Only minor injuries were reported from the scene and no one was transported for further medical treatment shared the local police department.
The building sustained moderate damage and fire personnel are in the process of evaluating the structural integrity noted the Santa Barbara Police Department.
The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation, but at this point, investigators do not believe drugs nor alcohol played a factor in the incident detailed the local law enforcement agency.
Witnesses said they saw a woman trying to park who lost control of her Lucid SUV.
The car took down the pillar and just missed Montecito Barbers where a customer was in a chair by the front window.
It car then crashed into Toy Crazy's storefront that had just been painted.
David Stibor said his wife Melissa Moore who owns he store was out of town.
"Well my wife told she called me and said, you won't believe what happened. I need you to go to the toy store because a car hit it. I'm going to send you a picture," said Stibor.
No one went to the hospital
"I'm grateful that nobody was hurt the people that drove the car in are okay our employees are okay there was nobody in the store in that section, no kids at the time, which is fantastic, because it is pretty busy, so that is what I am grateful for," said Stibor, " We will be able to fix everything hopefully we will be right back serving the community."
Employees including Ethan Hicks helped clean up the shattered glass and mess.
He was on an errand or he might have been in the front of the store when it happened.
"I'd come in earlier and I had been straightening up that area, so I'm just thankful ," said Hicks.
Crews boarded up the door, but people can go around to the back door when it reopens.
Customers kept arriving to find the store closed on Monday afternoon.
"I've been going here since I was 4, like getting the fidget toys and stuff in the little pocket, we were coming to hopefully get a toy for my cousin, but I guess not," said Emily Hall.
For Montecito Barbers it is a bit like Deja Vu.
A large framed photo on the wall shows an Oldsmobile crashed into the barbershop back in 1982.

"When we saw the accident, there was no thought, we just hoped everyone's okay. We went over there rushed over there," said Tim Sanchez.
They he remembed the photo.
The large white bollards to prevent car wrecks went in the next week back in 1982.
Now, they need to be replaced and perhaps reinforced.
