Eri Arzate arrested for multiple felonies after vehicle chase through Santa Barbara Sunday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Eri Arzate was arrested Sunday for multiple felonies including criminal threats, brandishing, and assault on an officer after a helicopter-involved search following a vehicle pursuit through Santa Barbara.

On March 22, around 4:03 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a man brandishing a firearm near the intersection of Olive Street and Ortega Street as well as a description of the suspect's vehicle stated a press release from the Santa Barbara Police Department.

According to Santa Barbara Police, officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver declined to comply and a vehicle chase through Santa Barbara surface streets and onto Highway 101 ensued.

The pursuit was called off to protect the public around Carpinteria shared the Santa Barbara Police Department.

About an hour later, an officer located the vehicle parked and unoccupied near the 1300 block of Kowalski Avenue and a Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Air Unit was called in to provide aerial assistance detailed the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Dispatchers received a call about a person who matched the description of the suspect in the area and officers located the man, later identified as a 38-year-old Eri Arzate, and took him into custody without further incident stated the Santa Barbara Police Department.

The 38-year-old was booked on charges of felony criminal threats, felony brandishing a firearm, felony assault on an officer, felony evasion, misdemeanor driving on a suspended license, and a misdemeanor charge of being a person prohibited from possessing tear gas stated the local police department.
