Pedestrian struck and killed Saturday night on Castillo Street off-ramp in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A pedestrian was struck and killed at the Castillo Street off-ramp of Highway 101 southbound Saturday night.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) detail that around 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 28, a male pedestrian standing in the middle of the Castillo Street off-ramp was struck by a 2015 Honda Accord.

The pedestrian had major injuries after the collision and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance where they later died from their injuries provide CHP.

According to CHP, the three occupants in the Accord reported no injuries at the scene and the off-ramp was closed for approximately two hours as part of the investigation.

Although the investigation into this collision is ongoing, alcohol nor drugs are considered a factor in the incident detail CHP.

The identity of the pedestrian is pending notification of his next of kin explain CHP.
