Multi-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 101 near State Street exit

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound side of Highway 101 just before the State Street exit on Tuesday.

One person was transported to Cottage Hospital for unknown injuries detail CHP.

According to the CHP Incident Page, a black SUV struck multiple vehicles and caused a short-term blockage of all southbound lanes.

Those lanes have been cleared and some of the vehicles were awaiting a tow with one vehicle awaiting a necessary tire change before it could be cleared from the roadway.

Although CHP could not confirm any arrests made at the scene, the image below shows a man matching the description of the driver of the black SUV from CHP's Incident Page being detained at the scene.
