Santa Barbara man pleads guilty in 2019 Westside gang-related murder

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif.– Santa Barbara resident Igor Ortiz pled guilty to the first-degree murder of 29-year-old Alberto Torres in a eastside Santa Barbara 2019 gang-related murder.

Ortiz alongside three other individuals repeatedly stabbed and killed Torres in a Westside gang-associated murder as the man walked home after work in the 1300 block of Cacique Street.

The man faces 25 years to life in prison. A sentencing hearing has been set for Feb. 8 in the new year.
