SB County deputies resuscitate two drug overdose victims in one night
ISLA VISTA, Calif. - Early Friday morning, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies successfully resuscitated two drug overdose patients during separate incidents.
The sheriff's office said around 2:34 a.m., deputies responded alongside SB County Fire and AMR to the 6500 block of Trigo due to an unconscious person in the area.
Upon arriving, deputies found the unconscious person and said it appeared they had overdosed on opioids.
Deputies administered Narcan to the patient who quickly regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
Less than an hour later, around 3:02 a.m., deputies responded with County Fire and AMR to another drug overdose call on the 6600 block of Del Playa.
At the scene, deputies located the unconscious victim and again administered Narcan. The patient regained consciousness shortly after and was also transported to the hospital by AMR.
The sheriff's office would like to remind the public to call 911 immediately if you witness someone suffering the following symptoms associated with opioid overdose:
- Face that is extremely pale or clammy to the touch
- Limp body
- Purple or blue fingernails or lips
- Vomiting or gurgling sounds
- Cannot be awakened or is unable to speak
- Breathing or heartbeat slows or stops
