Injured kayaker rescued off Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - An injured kayaker was rescued off Leadbetter Beach late Sunday morning.
Santa Barbara City firefighters received the call around 11 a.m.
One engine company responded to the area, but while they were en route, they were advised the incoming tide would pose a challenge to bringing the kayaker to the beach.
Harbor Patrol and an additional truck company responded to assist.
The kayaker was contacted by firefighters who found that her leg was injured.
She was placed on a backboard and successfully carried around Leadbetter Point by crews despite the high tide.
The young kayaker was then placed in the back of a Harbor Patrol vehicle and driven up to the parking lot where an AMR ambulance was waiting to transport her to the hospital.
