San Miguel Man Arrested In Connection With Homicide Following A Domestic Incident

SAN MIGUEL, Calif. (KEYT) – A 66-year-old San Miguel man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of 60-year-old Reyna Espinosa following a domestic violence incident on Monday.

On Sep. 28, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 500 block of River Road in San Miguel shared the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office in a press release Tuesday.

Arriving deputies found a 60-year-old woman, identified Tuesday morning as Reyna Espinosa of San Miguel, inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds and despite the lifesaving attempts by responders at the scene, she died from her injuries stated the local law enforcement agency.

Detectives identified a 66-year-old San Miguel man who had fled the scene before the arrival of deputies at the River Road home as the suspect in the homicide explained the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, an investigation revealed that the shooting had happened after a domestic disturbance and verbal argument between the man and the woman.

On Sep. 29, around 8:45 a.m., the 66-year-old San Miguel man was located and taken into custody without incident in Wasco, California, noted the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators believe the killing was an isolated incident, there is no further threat to the general public and there are no outstanding suspects detailed the local sheriff's office.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office stated that no public statement about the murder was issued while an active search for the shooter was underway and feared releasing information prematurely could have compromised their investigaton.
