Missing Arroyo Grande Man Patrick Valente Identified as Remains Discovered This Year

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Human remains discovered in rural San Luis Obispo County earlier this year have been identified as 58-year-old Patrick Jay Valente who has been missing since 2008.

In June of this year, the local sheriff's office began investigating a report of possible human remains located in an unspecified rural part of San Luis Obispo County stated the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office in a press release Friday.

The remains were determined to be human and a forensic anthropologist identified them as 58-year-old Patrick Jay Valente of unincorporated sections of Arroyo Grande shared the local law enforcement agency.

The circumstances around Valente's disappearance in 2008 were considered suspicious in nature and detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance and death explained the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers, Valente was last seen at his home in the 2500 block of Callender Road on July 4, 2008 and he was reported missing on July 12 of the same year.

He left his car and other personal belongings behind and was last seen with a full salt-and-pepper beard at the time of his disappearance.
