Pismo Beach lifeguards on standby during winter storm

PISMO BEACH, Calif. – The rain may keep most people away from the beach during the storm, but Pismo Beach lifeguards will still be on standby for any swimmers in distress.

The CAL FIRE Pismo Beach Fire Department operates the Pismo Beach Lifeguard Division.

The lifeguards protect a 1.5-mile stretch of the beach with four lifeguard towers and a patrol vehicle.

During the rainstorm, surf advisories may be put in place for swimmers.
