PISMO BEACH, Calif. – The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control awarded the Pismo Beach Police Department with a $63,252 grant because of the department's participation in the 2023-24 Alcohol Policing Partnership (APP) program.

Organizers said the APP program aims to reduce alcohol-related harm in the community, stop the sale of alcohol to minors, prevent the illegal sale of alcohol along with wiping out other criminal activities like the sale and possession of illegal drugs.

According to the report from the Pismo Bech Police Department, "The grant is one of nearly 50 awarded in California to local law enforcement agencies through the APP program. These grants strengthen local law enforcement efforts by combining theirs with Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents with expertise in alcoholic beverage laws to help reduce harmful, alcohol-related incidents within the community."
