PG&E announce aerial patrols all next week across San Luis Obispo County

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – Heads up residents of San Luis Obispo County! PG&E will conduct aerial patrols starting on Monday, Jul. 31 in the following areas: Cambria, Paso Robles, Lake Nacimiento, Heritage Ranch, San Miguel, Parkfield, Creston, Santa Margarita, and the eastern edges of the county.

The helicopter-based patrols will occur along several electric distribution lines for several days detail PG&E.

“Helicopter patrols allow our crews to identify hazard trees that could pose a safety risk, just one of the many ways PG&E is working to manage trees and other vegetation located near powerlines,” said Chris Long, Vegetation Program Manager for the Los Padres region, which includes San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

According to PG&E, patrols will fly from and back to Paso Robles Municipal Airport between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. depending on weather conditions.

These patrols are used to inspect trees along distribution lines within High Fire-Threat Districts designated by the California Public Utilities Commission explain PG&E.
