KEYT News Channel 3-12

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The City of San Luis Obispo is hosting the biannual Spring/Summer Clean-Up Week from Monday, Jun. 19 through Friday, Jun. 23.

Residents will be able to dispose of additional or bulky items that can't be donated or sold and might not fit into regular garbage bins.

Below are some key things to know about the Spring/ Summer Clean-Up Week:

  • Do not dispose of hazardous waste. Items that contain hazardous materials should not be placed in trash or recycling containers for collection
  • For oversized items such as furniture, residents can schedule a discounted bulky item pickup. Bulky item pickups need to be scheduled by calling San Luis Garbage at 805-543-0875. Setting bulky items for pickup without scheduling them in advance is illegal
  • You can Set out up to six more bags of trash at no extra charge. Single-family customers can also set out up to six additional 32-gallon bags of trash on their designated trash day during Clean-Up Week. This service is provided at no extra cost and aims to support residents in their cleanup efforts
  • Consider donating! In addition to bulky item pickups and extra bag allowances, the City’s Utilities Department also encourages residents to consider donating unwanted items in good condition. To see local donation spots, please visit the City’s Donate Unwanted Items webpage

The City of San Luis Obispo partners with San Luis Garbage for Clean-Up weeks twice a year, once in late spring or early summer and again in early fall which coincide with the end and beginning of the Cal Poly and Cuesta College school years.

For more information about bulky item pick-up, contact San Luis Garbage at 805-543-0875 or visit slocity.org/trashcollection.
