SLO county issued flash flood warning, community urged to stay off the road
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– San Luis Obispo County officials have activated the Emergency Operations Center amid a proclaimed local emergency, according to the San Luis Obispo County Emergency Services Director.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for SLO county Monday until 4:45 p.m. Officials say to remain off the roads unless leaving a flooded area.
The following main intersections are currently closed throughout the county.
- Los Osos Valley Road at Foothill Boulevard
- Tank Farm Road and Higuera Street
- Oceanaire and Avalon
- Marsh and Higuera Streets
- Oceanaire and Galleon through Madonna
- Calle Joaquin at LOVR closed in both directions
Highway 101 is still open right now. However, SLO county reports several on-ramps and off-ramps are currently closed. Northbound exits for Prado Road, Madonna Road, and Marsh Street are closed. Broad Street is the first Northbound exit available.
Emergency responders have conducted six water rescues saving drivers from half-submerged cars with city officials urging the public to not underestimate the danger and remain off the roads if able.
Those who have already evacuated and in need of a safe place to stay should head to the Marigold or Foothill shopping Center parking lots. Oceanaire neighborhoods are currently in a shelter in place at this time.
