38-year-old found guilty of defrauding more than $500,000

SLO District Attorney

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– 38-year-old Jeremy Walter Pemberton was found guilty of multiple counts of fraud totaling close to $500,000, according to the San Luis Obispo District Attorney.

Pemberton was found guilty of two felony counts of securities fraud, one felony count of financial elder abuse, two counts of felony grand theft by false pretenses, and the theft of more than $500,000.

Pemberton misrepresented and omitted essential information when promoting a 2017 multi-story renovation project at 1144 Chorro St. that was never completed. The unfulfilled project at the former Sports Authority was to be developed into a multi-use facility featuring a bar, bowling alleys, restaurants, and a concert venue.

Superior Court Judge Timothy Covello will oversee the Feb. 7, 2023 sentencing hearing.
