30-year-old SLO mother found guilty of fatal fentanyl overdose of three-year-old son

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– 30-year-old Jennifer Niemann was sentenced to four years for child endangerment that resulted in the fatal overdose of her three-year-old son, according to the San Luis Obispo District Attorney's Office.

The child was found unresponsive on May 4 by responding San Luis Obispo Police officers. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the three-year-old dead the same day. It was determined by an SLO police autopsy the three-year-old died from ingesting a fatal level of fentanyl.

Niemann was on the scene at the time of the overdose and allowed access to the drug within the home. They were arrested and charged in November.

The 30-year-old SLO resident entered a guilty plea for one count of child endangerment.
