Woman airlifted, man injured after traffic collision and brush fire near Sweeny Road in Lompoc Friday
LOMPOC, Calif. – Fire crews were on scene for a traffic collision and subsequent brush fire near Sweeny Road in Lompoc just after 6:00 p.m. Friday, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Forward progress of the fire stopped at 1/3 of an acre at 7:38 p.m. after a car went over the side of the road and caused major injuries to a woman in the car and moderate injuries to a man, explained the SBCFD.
Two dogs were also in the car with moderate to major injuries as animal control helped them, detailed the SBCFD.
Both patients were helped to Marian Regional Medical Center as the woman was taken via helicopter while the man was taken via ground ambulance, according to the SBCFD.
SBCFD crews were also on scene for a few hours after the incident to mop up.
