Highway 135 reopens after partial closure due to roadside fires

KEYT

ORCUTT, Calif. - Lanes of Highway 135/Highway 1 were shut down Wednesday after two roadside fires broke out south of Orcutt.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. on Highway 135 near the intersection with Graciosa Road.

Santa Barbara County Fire Captain Daniel Bertucelli said two spot fires burned about one acre combined. Both the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Vandenberg Fire Department responded.

According to the California Highway Patrol online incident log, smoke and flames blocked the northbound lanes of the highway.

CHP called for the partial closure of the highway, and the road was closed for several hours. By 3:15 p.m., all lanes of Highway 135 were reopened to traffic.

Two Santa Barbara County fire crews remained on scene for mop up duty.
