Nipomo fire held at 68 acres, now 100% contained

NIPOMO, Calif. - A grass fire that broke out in Nipomo Saturday afternoon is now 100% contained, according to CAL FIRE.

The fire was first reported around 3:22 p.m. off the 500 block of Rancho Road near Dana Foothill Road.

CAL FIRE reports great progress was made during the initial attack. The forward progress of the burn was halted at 68 acres. Full containment was achieved Sunday evening.

All crews have been released from the scene.

No injuries were reported or structures damaged during this incident.

The cause of this fire is under investigation, however, it popped up not long after various other spot fires along the Central Coast that were caused by lightning from a passing thunderstorm.
