Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Mookie Betts hits Golden Globes red carpet as budding Hollywood producer

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Mookie Betts was wearing a different hat at the Golden Globes.

The Los Angeles Dodgers slugger walked the red carpet Sunday night as the owner of his own media company. He was accompanied by two of his partners in OMG, Cam Lewis and Jeff Mason. He founded the Nashville- and Los Angeles-based company in 2020 as a potential post-baseball career.

“This is our first time being out and being able to attend something like this. We watched it on TV so much,” Betts told The Associated Press.

He was looking to mix and mingle with some of the Hollywood heavyweights in attendance, perhaps to cook up a potential deal. He recently palled around with actor and comic Will Ferrell at a Los Angeles Kings game.

“That’s the plan, right?” Betts said. “Just put yourself in the surroundings and you see what happens.”

Betts showed his inexperience when asked the traditional question of who he was wearing. He hesitated, struggling to describe his black suit. He wore a black bow tie, a silver lapel pin and a black brimmed hat.

“I’m wearing confidence,” he said.
