Tracking extreme fire risk Friday

The strongest Santa Ana winds are projected to impact Ventura into Friday evening. The strongest gusts will be near lunchtime with some 50-70mph readings possible. These could be potentially damaging winds, bring patio furniture and decorations inside. Humidity will fall to singular digits for some microclimates and heat will be a big issue. High pressure is at peak strength, so our Santa Ana winds peak and so do temperatures. Expect 90s for many areas. Overnight lows will be warmer as well.

We ease to moderate Santa Ana winds and heat through Saturday evening. Continue to practice fire safety and keep an eye on those at risk for heat related illness. We begin to cool off and winds die down by Sunday. Many areas return to 70s and 80s.

A low pressure system will swing through the Central Coast Monday bringing overcast skies, cooler temperatures and rain chances. The First Alert Weather Team will monitor these changes closely. Tune in for the latest this weekend.
