Fatal Traffic Collision Shuts Down Ocean Avenue in Lompoc

LOMPOC, Calif. (KEYT) – The Lompoc Police Department have lifted a temporary road closure in the 1100 block of East Ocean Ave following a serious traffic collision.

At approximately 11:17am Thursday morning, emergency dispatchers were called out to the scene at 1100B E Ocean Ave. where a traffic collision had occurred between a vehicle and a motorcycle. Upon arrival, the motorcyclist was found to have suffered severe injuries.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the man driving the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene.

Lompoc Police say a passenger inside the vehicle was transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs or alcohol do not seem to be a factor in the collision.

The department shut down all lanes of East Ocean Ave., both eastbound and westbound, but are now reopened.

Lompoc PD is withholding the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
