Fire Teams Halt Forward Progress of Ten-Acre Fire Off Highway 1 North of San Luis Obispo

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Fire crews are on the scene of a ten-acre vegetation fire near Highway 1 and Mail Pouch Lane northwest of San Luis Obispo city limits Friday.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, forward progress of flames at two separate fires has been halted by 5:10 p.m. and the full fire is currently 40 percent contained as of 5:45 p.m. Friday.

An earlier threat to nearby structures was successfully mitigated by a quick and directed response from firefighters in the area added the emergency response agency.

A smaller spot fire is closer to the California Men's Colony and a nearby solar farm and the large, ten-acre fire is further south along Highway 1 as shown in the image below shared the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department.

One lane of northbound Highway 1 is closed as first responders battle the flames and drivers are asked to use caution if driving in the area noted the local fire response agency.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation noted the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department.
