Mathew Gomez of Port Hueneme Sentenced to 22 Years for Molesting Child He Lived With

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Mathew Gomez was sentenced to 22 years in state prison after sexually abusing a child for years at home they shared in Moorpark and at his home in Port Hueneme.

On June 15, Gomez pled guilty to three felony counts of forcible lewd acts on a child, one felony count of unlawful of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance for sales as well as the aggravating factor that the child he victimized was particularly vulnerable detailed the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

According to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, Gomez sexually abused the child dozens of times at a Moorpark home they shared and at his residence in Port Hueneme between April of 2021 and May of 2023.

The sexual assault survivor shared the abuse with a trusted adult that information was then relayed to law enforcement noted the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Gomez was taken into custody by deputies and a search of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of a notable quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and an un-registered semi-automatic pistol with a high-capacity magazine explained the Ventura County District Attorney's Office

"The courage it took for this victim to come forward ended years of abuse and ensured the
defendant would be held accountable," Deputy District Attorney Morgan Luna, who prosecuted the case, said. "This sentence reflects the seriousness of these crimes and our commitment to protecting children and seeking justice for survivors."
