Santa Maria High School FFA’s students fundraise 4th of July weekend at their firework stand

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- Santa Maria High Schools Future Farmers of America fundraise with a firework stand for their chapter during the 4th of July weekend.

Every year club students and staff get together to help raise money for agricultural conferences.

FFA teacher Mark Powell says the community comes together to help these students sell out.

“It's been pretty good. It's always a little slow getting started, but the community has always been super supportive and always come out and, you know, expect to be increase in sales over the weekend and definitely when we get to that July 3rd and July 4th, we get to that point where we get pretty close to selling out," said Powell.

FFA students will be selling fireworks on Main and College in Santa Maria until the 4th of July.

“Make sure to come out and support our chapter. But of course, be safe when using fireworks. So just make sure you have an adult present and make good choices," said FFA President Melissa Lua.
